The VALUE COLLECTION 230-4203 is a 5C round collet machined from steel for use in 5C-compatible spindles and collet chucks found on lathes, grinding machines, and milling fixtures. With a collet size of 3.00 millimeters, an internal thread size of 1.041 inches-24, and an external thread size of 1.242 inches-20, this collet delivers a total indicator runout (TIR) of 0.015 millimeters for close-tolerance workholding. It is suited for production shops and toolrooms where consistent part holding and repeatable accuracy are required across high-volume runs or precision setups.
This 5C round collet is intended for use in manual and CNC lathes, cylindrical grinders, and rotary fixtures equipped with a standard 5C spindle. It accepts round bar stock, shafts, or turned workpieces at the 3.00 mm nominal size. Machinists and toolroom operators typically select this collet for second-operation work, OD grinding setups, and any application where a 3-jaw chuck would introduce unacceptable runout or setup time.
Designed as a standard 5C-style round collet for use in any machine tool spindle or fixture built to accept the 5C collet system.
5C collets are installed and removed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians with the machine spindle fully stopped and all drives disengaged. Threads should be inspected and kept clean and free of chips before installation to prevent damage to spindle threads or collet seating surfaces. Avoid overtightening the collet closer, as this can distort the collet bore and degrade TIR performance. Always verify runout with a dial indicator after seating the collet before beginning a cut or grind.
