The VALUE COLLECTION 204-4064 is an ER40 series collet designed for use in CNC machining centers, milling machines, and toolholding systems that accept ER40-style collet chucks. With a 1-inch collet size and a total indicator runout (TIR) of 0.0005 inches, this collet delivers the close tolerances required for precision material removal and tool retention in production and job-shop environments. Machinists and tool-crib technicians specify ER collets for their ability to grip cutting tools, drills, reamers, and round-shank tooling securely while maintaining concentricity. The ER40 designation indicates the collet fits ER40 chucks, a widely adopted standard across vertical and horizontal machining centers.
This collet is suited for shops running general-purpose and high-precision machining operations where consistent tool runout directly affects surface finish, tool life, and dimensional accuracy. The 1-inch bore accommodates common shank-diameter tooling used in production milling, drilling, and reaming applications. It is sold individually, making it a practical replacement or supplemental addition to an existing ER40 toolholding setup in both manual and CNC machine tool environments.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for ER40-standard collet chucks used in CNC milling machines, machining centers, and manual mills that accept the ER40 collet system.
ER collets are installed and removed by machinists or toolroom technicians using an ER40 collet nut and a compatible collet chuck wrench. Before changing tooling, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is placed in a safe, locked-out state per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the collet into the chuck nut before inserting into the chuck body to avoid damage to the collet taper. Do not exceed the collet clamping range, as over- or under-sized shanks will compromise grip and runout performance.
