The VALUE COLLECTION 1837 is a low-hydrogen E7018 stick welding electrode designed for shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) applications. Measuring 1/8 inch in diameter and 14 inches in length, this electrode is formulated to produce strong, crack-resistant welds on mild and low-alloy steels. The low-hydrogen flux coating minimizes the risk of hydrogen-induced cracking, making it a standard choice for structural, pressure vessel, and heavy fabrication work. Licensed welders and experienced fabricators use this electrode where code-quality welds and good mechanical properties are required.
The E7018 electrode classification indicates a minimum tensile strength of 70,000 psi and is suited for all-position welding on carbon steel base metals. It is commonly used in structural steel fabrication, pipe welding, shipbuilding, and repair welding where low diffusible hydrogen content is specified by the welding procedure specification (WPS). The 14-inch rod length is the industry-standard size compatible with conventional stick welding machines used in shop and field environments.
Designed for use with standard SMAW (stick welding) power sources capable of supporting E7018 low-hydrogen electrodes, including AC/DC constant-current welding machines.
Low-hydrogen electrodes must be stored in a dry environment and should be kept in a rod oven or sealed container to prevent moisture absorption, which can compromise weld integrity. Inspect electrode holders and leads before use and ensure the welding machine is set to the correct polarity and amperage range for the 1/8 inch diameter. Follow your site WPS, applicable AWS D1.1 structural welding code requirements, and all applicable safety standards including proper PPE, ventilation, and flash protection.
