The VALUE COLLECTION 183-6551 is a single-end corner rounding end mill designed for producing consistent radius profiles on workpiece edges in milling operations. Built from M2 high speed steel and finished with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The cutter measures 2.5 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch corner radius and seats into the spindle on a 3/4-inch shank. It runs a 4-flute right-hand cutting, right-hand helix configuration. Machinists and toolroom operators use this end mill on manual knee mills, CNC knee mills, and vertical machining centers when a controlled edge radius is required on steel, aluminum, or similar machinable materials.
This end mill is suited for corner rounding passes on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in job shop, production, and toolroom environments. The 7/8-inch radius makes it appropriate for applications requiring a larger edge break, such as die components, fixture plates, and general machined parts where a generous radius replaces a sharp corner for both functional and cosmetic reasons. The TiN coating extends tool life in interrupted cuts and on harder workpieces relative to bright HSS. It is sold as a single-end tool, meaning the cutting geometry is on one end only.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement-style corner rounding end mill for use in any spindle accepting a 3/4-inch straight shank, including standard ER collet chucks and shell mill-style end mill holders on vertical mills and VMCs.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or removing any tooling. Seat the 3/4-inch shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use, and never exceed the recommended speeds and feeds for M2 HSS tooling in the material being cut.
