The VALUE COLLECTION 167-094NL is a dielectric union designed to connect dissimilar metal pipes in plumbing and hydronic systems. Dielectric unions prevent galvanic corrosion at the joint where copper and steel piping meet by isolating the two metals with a non-conductive sleeve and washer. This union features a 3/4-inch female NPT thread, a 3/4-inch male NPT thread, and a 3/4-inch sweat (solder) end, giving installers flexibility at the connection point. Weighing 0.55 pounds, it is a compact, single-piece fitting suited for residential and light commercial plumbing work. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This dielectric union is used wherever copper tubing meets threaded steel or iron pipe, including domestic water supply lines, water heater connections, boiler supply and return piping, and hydronic heating systems. The sweat end accommodates 3/4-inch copper tubing, while the threaded side connects to galvanized or black iron pipe. It is a common replacement or new-install fitting in residential water heater rough-in work, where code in most jurisdictions requires a dielectric union or dielectric nipple to separate dissimilar metals.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation dielectric union for residential and light commercial plumbing systems requiring a transition between copper and threaded steel or iron pipe at 3/4-inch nominal size.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before beginning work. The sweat end requires standard soldering tools and flux; allow the joint to cool fully before applying thread sealant or PTFE tape to the NPT connections. Do not overtighten the union nut, as excessive force can crack the internal dielectric sleeve and defeat the corrosion-isolation function.
