The VALUE COLLECTION 13283 is a 45-degree street elbow fitting designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial piping systems. Constructed from malleable iron with a black finish, this Class 150 fitting handles liquid and gas service at up to 300 psi. The street configuration features one male (spigot) end and one female (threaded) end, allowing direct connection without an additional nipple. At a nominal size of 1/2 inch, it suits branch lines, offsets, and directional changes in tight spaces. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both residential and light commercial applications where a reliable, low-cost malleable iron elbow is required.
This fitting is used in threaded black iron pipe systems for natural gas distribution lines, steam piping, compressed air, and water service. The 45-degree angle makes it the preferred choice when a gentle directional change is needed rather than a sharp 90-degree turn. It is commonly found in basement mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, and commercial kitchens where black iron gas piping is the standard. The black finish is standard for gas piping applications and is compatible with pipe dope or PTFE tape thread sealants approved for gas service.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 1/2 inch threaded black iron pipe systems in gas, steam, compressed air, and water service applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) or International Plumbing Code (IPC) where required. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system completely before disassembling or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an approved thread sealant compound or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as malleable iron fittings can crack if excessive force is applied.
