The VALUE COLLECTION 12484 is a concave radius cutter designed for milling concave profiles and radius forms on metal workpieces. Made from high speed steel with an uncoated finish, this cutter features a 3/8 inch radius and a 1-1/2 inch cut diameter, making it well suited for form milling operations that require precise, repeatable concave geometry. The 3/4 inch shank mounts securely in standard milling machine collets and holders. With 4 teeth and a form-relieved profile, the cutter maintains accurate radius geometry through the life of the tool and allows for straightforward resharpening without altering the form. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers and users of this cutter.
This concave radius cutter is used in manual and CNC milling operations where a consistent concave radius must be cut into ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Typical applications include producing coves, radius slots, and mating convex-to-concave form fits on machine components and fixtures. The Weldon flat on the shank provides positive drive and prevents slippage under cutting loads. At 4 inches overall length, the cutter fits standard vertical milling setups without excessive overhang.
Designed for use in standard milling machines and machining centers accepting a 3/4 inch straight shank with Weldon flat drive. Suitable for form milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals in tool-and-die, maintenance machining, and general metalworking applications.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with milling machine setup and cutter safety. Secure the Weldon flat shank firmly in a compatible end mill holder or collet, ensuring the set screw engages the flat fully before operation. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing cutters. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish.
