The VALUE COLLECTION 103339 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for metal-cutting lathe operations. It carries the ANSI insert code TPU221 and ISO insert code TPU110304, identifying it as a triangular-profile insert with a 60-degree included angle, an 11-degree relief angle, and a flat-top chip breaker geometry. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches (6.35 mm), insert thickness is 0.125 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch). The bright, uncoated carbide finish is suited for applications where coating is undesirable or where the operator applies their own surface treatment. Material grade is C5 and C6.
This insert is intended for turning operations on P-grade workpiece materials, which include carbon and alloy steels commonly encountered in general machining and production environments. The positive side clearance and clamp-style holding method make it compatible with standard external turning toolholders that accept TPU-style inserts. It is appropriate for finish and semi-finish turning passes on steel workpieces in both job-shop and production settings. Machinists and CNC lathe operators working with ferrous materials will find this insert suited to moderate cutting speeds and controlled chip conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for standard external turning toolholders accepting TPU-style, triangular carbide inserts with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and clamp-style mounting.
Turning inserts of this type are seated and secured by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Before changing inserts, power down and lock out the lathe spindle per machine-specific lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate clamp screw torque as specified by the toolholder manufacturer -- do not overtighten, as carbide is brittle. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or damage before installing a fresh insert.
