The VALUE COLLECTION 101279PR is a cup point set screw designed for secure, no-protrusion fastening in mechanical assemblies. Threaded 10-32 UNF and measuring 7/16 inches in overall length, this fully threaded fastener is driven with a 3/32 inch hex key. Manufactured from alloy steel, it meets ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM F912 standards. Set screws of this type are commonly used by machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians to lock collars, pulleys, gears, and knobs onto shafts without extending beyond the surface of the mating part.
This set screw is suited for light-duty to medium-duty industrial and mechanical applications where a flush or recessed fastener is required. Typical install scenarios include shaft collars on motors and drives, position stops on linear rails, and adjustment mechanisms in HVAC equipment, pumps, and fans. The cup point digs into the shaft surface to resist rotational and axial movement under load.
Designed as a standard 10-32 UNF cup point set screw for use in any tapped hole conforming to 10-32 thread specifications where a hex-drive headless fastener is required.
Installation is performed with a 3/32 inch hex key or L-wrench; a T-handle or ball-end hex driver improves torque control in confined spaces. Ensure the receiving hole is clean and properly tapped to 10-32 UNF before driving the fastener. De-energize and lock out any rotating equipment before tightening or loosening set screws on shafts. Do not substitute a hex key of a different size, as rounding the socket drive will compromise removal.
