The VALUE COLLECTION 0214090 is a galvanized steel pipe nipple designed for use in threaded pipe assemblies across plumbing, HVAC, and light industrial applications. Measuring 1-1/2 inches in pipe size and 9 inches in length, this Schedule 40 nipple is threaded on both ends for direct connection to fittings, valves, or adjacent pipe sections. The hot-dip galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance in moderate-moisture environments. At just under 2 pounds, it is a standard close-coupled extension used to bridge two threaded components within a run. Plumbers and pipefitters rely on this type of nipple for water supply, drainage, and process piping tie-ins where a rigid short-run connection is required.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing installations, including water supply lines, gas distribution systems where galvanized steel is permitted by local code, and general-purpose threaded pipe runs. It is also commonly used in fire suppression roughing, hydronic heating distribution, and light industrial fluid handling where Schedule 40 wall thickness meets pressure and mechanical requirements. The 1-1/2-inch nominal size fits standard NPT threaded fittings of the same nominal diameter.
Designed as a standard OEM-style replacement or new-installation component compatible with 1-1/2-inch NPT threaded fittings and Schedule 40 pipe systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC or IFGC requirements depending on the service. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly and tighten to proper engagement using a pipe wrench — avoid over-tightening, which can crack fittings. Shut off and depressurize the system before breaking into any existing pipe run. Verify local code acceptance of galvanized steel for the intended service, particularly gas or potable water applications.
