The VALUE COLLECTION 02-081 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for drilling into stainless steel, hardened materials, and other demanding workpiece materials. It features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements at the start of a hole. The straw finish is a byproduct of the cobalt alloy heat treatment and provides a visual indicator of heat resistance. At 5 inches overall length with a 3.625-inch flute length, this is a standard jobber-length format suitable for general-purpose drilling in most drill press and hand-drill applications. The straight 3/8-inch shank fits standard chucks without an adapter.
This drill bit is suited for fabrication shops, maintenance trades, and service professionals who regularly drill through stainless steel fastener plates, HVAC equipment brackets, electrical enclosures, and similar hard-to-machine ferrous materials. The cobalt construction handles the work-hardening tendency of stainless and other high-strength alloys better than standard high-speed steel. It is a right-hand cut with a regular spiral flute and is intended for through-hole and blind-hole drilling at standard shop depths up to 3.625 inches maximum drilling depth.
Designed as a general-purpose cobalt jobber drill bit compatible with any drill press, magnetic drill, or hand drill chuck accepting a 3/8-inch straight shank. Intended for use in stainless steel and hardened material drilling applications.
Cobalt drill bits should be run at lower RPM than standard HSS bits when drilling stainless steel to prevent work hardening at the cut surface. Use cutting fluid or coolant where possible to extend tool life, even though this bit does not have through-coolant capability. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and verify chuck tightness before starting. Worn or chipped cutting edges should not be pushed through hard materials — redress or replace the bit before continuing work.
