The VALUE COLLECTION 01541572 is a taper shank drill bit designed for heavy-duty metal drilling in industrial and machine shop environments. It measures 1-57/64 inches (1.8906 inches decimal) in diameter and features a 4MT (Morse Taper No. 4) shank for direct mounting in compatible taper-spindle drill presses and lathes. The bit is manufactured from high-speed steel with an oxide finish for added lubricity and basic corrosion resistance. A standard 118-degree point angle makes it suitable for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Web thinning reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation at larger diameters.
This drill bit is suited for general-purpose production drilling in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and maintenance operations. The 4MT taper shank seats directly into drill press quills, boring mills, and lathe tailstocks equipped with a No. 4 Morse Taper socket, eliminating the need for a separate chuck. It handles materials including mild steel, cast iron, and aluminum in both one-off and repetitive drilling applications.
Designed for use in drill presses, boring mills, and lathe tailstocks fitted with a No. 4 Morse Taper (4MT) socket.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the taper shank. Clean both the bit taper and the spindle socket thoroughly before seating to ensure full contact and prevent slippage under load. Use a drift and knockout bar to remove the bit from the spindle — never strike the spindle housing directly.
