The VALUE COLLECTION 01199082 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter H (0.2660 inches) for demanding metal-drilling applications. Built from heavy-duty cobalt steel, it features a 135-degree split point that self-centers on contact, reducing walking and the need for a center punch. The regular spiral flute geometry clears chips efficiently during through-hole drilling. At 4.125 inches overall length with a 2.875-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks with its straight cylindrical shank. It carries a straw finish and is designed for right-hand cutting. Licensed machinists, pipefitters, plumbers, and HVAC technicians reach for this grade when drilling stainless steel and other hardened materials where standard HSS bits fall short.
This jobber drill is suited for both shop and field use where precise, clean holes in tough metals are required. The 0.2660-inch diameter places it in the letter-drill range commonly used for tap-drill operations, close-tolerance fits, and fastener clearance holes in stainless steel and similarly hardened workpieces. It is sold individually and is appropriate for use in hand-held drill motors, drill presses, and magnetic base drills where a straight-shank bit is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard jobber drill bit for use in any drill press, hand drill, or magnetic base drill accepting a straight-shank bit at 0.2660 inches shank diameter.
Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling — clamping is especially important when drilling stainless steel, which work-hardens quickly under dull tooling or excessive dwell. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel to extend bit life and improve hole finish; this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the split point before each use and replace the bit if the cutting edges show chipping or glazing. This bit is not designed for use in hammer or rotary-hammer mode.
