The VALUE COLLECTION 01198233 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size No. 23, equivalent to 0.154 inches in decimal diameter. Built from heavy-duty cobalt steel with a straw finish, this bit is engineered for drilling stainless steel and other hardened materials that would quickly dull a standard high-speed steel bit. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and requires less feed pressure at the start of the hole. It features a regular spiral flute, right-hand cutting direction, and a straight cylindrical shank. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators in metal-working and industrial service environments are the typical end users.
This bit is suited for drilling stainless steel, hardened steel alloys, and similarly tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials in shop and field settings. The 2-inch flute length and 3.125-inch overall length make it appropriate for standard drill press, CNC, and hand-drill applications where jobber-length reach is adequate. The two-flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in through-hole operations. No coolant-through capability is present, so external cutting fluid or coolant application is recommended when drilling stainless or hardened stock to manage heat buildup and extend tool life.
Designed as a jobber-length drill bit for use in standard drill presses, CNC drilling centers, and hand-held drills equipped with a conventional three-jaw chuck sized to accept a 0.154-inch straight shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with metal drilling operations. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before drilling. Power down and de-energize any machine tool completely before changing bits. When drilling stainless steel or hardened materials without coolant-through capability, apply a suitable cutting fluid externally to reduce heat buildup and prevent premature edge wear.
