The VALUE COLLECTION 01190073 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit ground to a 135-degree split point for fast, self-centering starts without a center punch. Built from heavy-duty cobalt steel, the bit handles the heat and abrasion generated when drilling stainless steel, hardened alloys, and other tough ferrous materials that would quickly wear out standard high-speed steel. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly into standard drill chucks. At 2.625 inches overall length with a 1.5-inch regular spiral flute, this is a compact, rigid tool suited for close-quarter drilling operations where a longer bit would flex.
This bit is intended for metalworking applications where material hardness demands a cobalt-grade cutting tool. Typical use cases include fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and field service work involving stainless steel fastener holes, hardened plate, and similar materials. The right-hand, regular spiral flute provides efficient chip evacuation during through-hole drilling. No coolant-through capability is built in, so flood or mist coolant applied externally is the standard approach when drilling at higher speeds or in production volumes.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit for use with any drill press, hand drill, or machining center equipped with a drill chuck accepting a straight cylindrical shank. Intended primary workpiece materials include stainless steel and hardened ferrous materials.
Installation is performed by machinists, fabricators, or maintenance technicians using a drill press, mill, or hand-held power drill. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before beginning a cut. Apply external cutting fluid or mist coolant when drilling stainless steel to manage heat buildup and extend tool life. Never force a dull bit — cobalt tools can fracture under excessive feed pressure if the cutting edge is worn.
