The VALUE COLLECTION 01188523 is a No. 52 wire-size jobber-length drill bit ground from high speed steel (HSS) with an oxide finish. It cuts a 0.0635-inch diameter hole and carries a standard 118-degree split point for reliable self-centering on flat and curved surfaces. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks without adapters. With a regular spiral flute and right-hand cutting direction, it clears chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations in steel and cast iron. A web-thinned, tapered web design reduces thrust and helps maintain accurate hole entry on harder ferrous materials. General-purpose grade, sold individually.
This bit is suited to precision metalworking applications requiring tight wire-gauge hole tolerances. Typical uses include tapping pre-drill operations, instrument and sheet-metal work, jig and fixture fabrication, and OEM production drilling in steel and cast iron workpieces. The 1.875-inch overall length and 0.875-inch flute length make it appropriate for shallow-hole work in bench drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drill heads where a compact reach is required. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this size range.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting straight shanks up to 0.0635 inches in diameter; primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron.
Licensed machinists or qualified maintenance technicians should secure the bit firmly in a drill chuck and verify zero runout before drilling. Always use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Power down and de-energize or lock out the drilling machine before changing bits. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and bit diameter.
