The VALUE COLLECTION 01167774 is a wire gauge No. 77 jobber-length drill bit machined from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish. The 118-degree standard point angle suits general-purpose drilling in aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and similar soft-to-medium materials. The tapered web with web-thinning reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation at entry. At 0.875 inches overall length with a 0.1875-inch flute length, this is a short, precision bit intended for small-diameter work in tight tolerances. Right-hand, regular spiral flutes clear chips efficiently during operation. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and fabricators routinely use bits in this size range for pilot holes, tapping prep, and fine detail work.
This bit is suited for use on aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous materials in production and maintenance drilling applications. The 0.0180-inch decimal diameter makes it appropriate for small-hole drilling tasks where wire gauge sizing is specified, such as electronics enclosure work, light fabrication, and instrument assembly. The straight cylindrical shank is compatible with standard Jacobs-style chucks on bench drill presses, hand drills, and CNC spindles accepting collets in this diameter range. No coolant-through capability is present, so conventional external lubrication or dry drilling applies based on the workpiece material.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock bit for applications requiring a No. 77 wire gauge drill. Compatible with any standard Jacobs-style chuck or collet system accepting a 0.0180-inch straight cylindrical shank.
This bit is installed and replaced by machinists or maintenance technicians using standard drill chuck tooling. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck before operation to prevent slippage on this fine diameter. At this size, excessive feed pressure will break the bit — use light, consistent feed rates appropriate for the material. Secure the workpiece fully before drilling and apply a suitable cutting fluid when drilling non-ferrous metals to extend bit life.
