The VALUE COLLECTION 01167550 is a No. 55 wire-size jobber-length drill bit ground from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish. It carries a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned, tapered-web geometry that reduces thrust on entry. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.0520 inches in diameter, matching the 0.0520-inch decimal drill size. Overall length is 1.875 inches with a flute length of 0.875 inches. Two regular spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. This is a general-purpose jobber drill suited for production and maintenance work performed by machinists, tool-and-die techs, and sheet-metal fabricators.
The 01167550 is rated for aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials, making it a practical choice for drilling copper, brass, soft alloys, and similar materials in light manufacturing, electrical panel work, and HVAC sheet-metal fabrication. The small wire-gauge diameter and jobber-length proportions fit standard Jacobs-style drill chucks and precision pin vises. Coolant-through is not supported. The bright finish is appropriate for dry or lightly lubricated cutting operations where surface adhesion to the workpiece is not a concern.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and pin vises accepting a 0.0520-inch straight shank, targeting aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
This drill bit is installed and used by machinists, electricians, and sheet-metal workers using a drill press, hand drill, or rotary tool fitted with an appropriate chuck. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify concentricity to avoid wandering on small-diameter holes. Use a center punch mark or a pilot hole to locate the entry point accurately on hard or smooth surfaces. Apply a light cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling copper or brass to extend bit life and improve hole finish.
