The US MOTORS NPTT165 is a variable speed pool pump motor rated at 1.65 HP with a speed range of 600 to 3450 RPM and a supply voltage of 230 volts. Built around a brushless permanent magnet design with fully integrated variable speed motor control, the NPTT165 eliminates the need for a separate variable frequency drive. It operates on a single-phase, 50/60 Hz power supply, draws 6.8 amps at full load, and carries a TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) enclosure rating for outdoor pool equipment environments. The 48Y frame configuration suits standard pool pump mounting. Licensed pool and HVAC service technicians and residential electricians are the primary installers.
The NPTT165 is designed for residential pool pump applications where variable speed operation reduces energy consumption across filtration, heating, and circulation cycles. The wide 600 to 3450 RPM speed range allows the motor to run at low speeds for routine filtration and ramp up for backwash or feature operation. The TEFC enclosure and 50 degrees C ambient temperature rating make it suitable for exposed equipment pad installations in warm climates. It is rated for single-phase residential electrical services at 230 volts.
Designed as an OEM-style variable speed replacement motor for residential pool pump systems using a 48Y frame configuration at 230 volts single-phase.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified pool equipment technician in accordance with NEC requirements for pool and spa equipment wiring. Disconnect and lock out all power to the pump circuit before removing the existing motor or making any wiring connections. The 48Y frame requires correct alignment with the pump body and wet end coupling before securing the mounting bolts. Verify supply voltage and circuit ampacity match the motor nameplate ratings before energizing.
