The UPONOR a5500500 is a PVC elbow fitting designed to provide a rigid 90-degree bend and protective sleeve for PEX tubing where it exits a concrete slab. Built from durable PVC, this reducing elbow transitions between a 3/4-inch sleeve and 3/8-inch PEX tubing, protecting the tubing from abrasion and mechanical damage at the slab penetration point. At 6.5 inches in overall length, it gives adequate coverage through the slab transition zone. It is used in hydronic and low-voltage radiant systems by licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors working with PEX-a tubing runs.
This fitting is suited for residential and commercial applications where PEX tubing must exit a concrete slab without direct contact with the slab edge. Applicable systems include radiant heating and cooling, snow and ice melting, permafrost protection, turf conditioning, and PEX-a plumbing systems. It is also listed for use in AQUASAFE fire safety system installations. The PEX x PEX end connection configuration keeps the install straightforward for any tech already working with standard PEX tooling.
Designed for use with 3/8-inch, 1/2-inch, 5/8-inch, 3/4-inch, and 1-inch Uponor PEX tubing runs exiting a concrete slab, with this SKU configured for 3/4-inch sleeve by 3/8-inch PEX tubing.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or mechanical contractor during slab pour preparation or post-pour stub-up work. Position the elbow sleeve in the slab form before the pour so the PEX tubing exits cleanly through the fitting. Ensure tubing is fully seated through the sleeve prior to completing any concrete work. Follow local plumbing codes and the applicable IFGC or IPC provisions for embedded or slab-penetrating tubing runs.
