The UNIWELD 70044 is a swage punch designed for expanding copper tubing to accept a slip-fit connection without the need for a separate fitting. Used in HVAC and refrigeration work, the tool creates a swaged socket on 1/2-inch OD soft or annealed copper tubing. The expanded end allows the adjoining tube to slide in and be brazed or soldered directly, reducing material cost and joint count. HVAC technicians and refrigeration mechanics are the primary users of this tool during line set fabrication and coil connection work.
This swage punch is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC and refrigeration applications where 1/2-inch OD copper tubing is standard. It is commonly used when fabricating or modifying refrigerant line sets, evaporator coil connections, and suction or liquid line terminations in split-system air conditioning and heat pump installations. The tool is driven by a standard flaring block or tubing tool set and is used at the job site or in a shop fabrication environment.
Designed as an OEM-style swage punch for use with standard HVAC and refrigeration swaging tool sets sized for 1/2-inch OD copper tubing.
This tool is used by licensed HVAC technicians and refrigeration mechanics. Before swaging, ensure the tubing is properly deburred and the system is depressurized and isolated. Use only on soft or annealed copper tubing rated for the intended refrigerant service. Follow applicable mechanical and refrigeration codes, including local jurisdiction requirements, when brazing or soldering swaged connections.
