The UNIWELD 70043 is a swage punch designed for expanding soft copper and aluminum tubing to a 3/8 inch outside diameter. Swage punches are hand tools used to form a socket on the end of a tube so a second tube of the same diameter can be inserted and brazed or soldered to create a leak-free joint without a coupling fitting. This tool is part of the standard kit carried by HVAC technicians, refrigeration mechanics, and plumbers who work with ACR and plumbing tubing on a daily basis. It is cross-referenced as a replacement for Imperial part 93-S-06, making it a compatible substitute for shops already running Imperial swaging tool sets.
The 70043 is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC and refrigeration work where copper line set repairs, evaporator coil connections, or plumbing branch connections require field-swaged joints. It is also used in heat-shrink and general torch work applications where fitting-free joints are preferred. Technicians typically use this punch with a swaging block or flare bar to hold the tubing during the swaging operation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or substitute for Imperial part 93-S-06. Intended for use with standard swaging blocks or flare bars that accept 3/8 inch OD tubing punches. Suitable for soft copper and aluminum tubing common in HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing applications.
This tool is typically used by licensed HVAC technicians, refrigeration mechanics, or plumbers. Before swaging a line, ensure the system is recovered, depressurized, and locked out in accordance with applicable safety procedures and local codes. Secure the tubing firmly in a swaging block or flare bar before driving the punch to avoid deforming the tube wall. Inspect the swaged socket for cracks or ovality before brazing or soldering the joint.
