The UNITED ELECTRIC CONTROLS J120-194 is an explosion-proof pressure switch designed for use in hazardous-location industrial and commercial environments. It monitors system pressure and actuates a switching action when a set pressure threshold is reached, making it suitable for process control, safety shutdown, and monitoring applications. The J120-194 features a 1/2 inch NPTF threaded process connection and is rated for a maximum pressure setting of 2000 psi. Licensed instrumentation technicians, industrial electricians, and mechanical contractors typically install this switch in demanding applications where ignition-source protection is required by code.
This pressure switch is intended for use in locations classified as hazardous due to the presence of flammable gases, vapors, or dusts. Typical installation scenarios include oil and gas facilities, chemical processing plants, refineries, and heavy industrial systems where standard electrical enclosures are not permitted. The explosion-proof housing prevents internal arcs or sparks from igniting surrounding atmospheres, meeting the requirements of classified area installations under the National Electrical Code.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation pressure switch for hazardous-location industrial pressure monitoring systems requiring a 1/2 inch NPTF process connection and a maximum pressure setting of 2000 psi.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician or instrumentation technician in accordance with NEC Article 500 requirements for classified hazardous locations. De-energize the circuit and depressurize and isolate the process line before making any connections. All conduit entries and fittings must be rated for the applicable hazardous location classification to maintain explosion-proof integrity. Do not exceed the rated maximum pressure setting during operation or testing.
