The UNITED ELECTRIC CONTROLS J120-193 is an explosion-proof pressure switch designed for demanding industrial and commercial applications where ignition hazards are a concern. It accepts process connections via a 1/2 inch NPTF female thread and houses a dual SPDT contact arrangement. The adjustable setpoint range spans 20 psi to 500 psi on rise and 20 psi to 500 psi on fall, with a deadband adjustable between 4 psi and 30 psi. Wetted parts are constructed from 316 stainless steel, making the switch suitable for corrosive media. Electrical termination is handled through two 3/4 inch NPT entry terminal blocks. The switch weighs 4 pounds.
This switch is intended for use in classified hazardous locations where flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dusts may be present. Typical installations include oil and gas facilities, chemical processing plants, industrial HVAC systems, and marine or petrochemical environments requiring certified explosion-proof equipment. Licensed electricians and instrumentation technicians are the primary installers. The J120-193 supports a wide voltage range covering 125, 250, and 480 volts AC as well as 30, 48, and 125 volts DC, making it adaptable to a broad set of control circuit configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style explosion-proof pressure switch for hazardous-location control systems requiring a 1/2 inch NPTF female process connection and dual SPDT output contacts. Verify voltage, amperage, and classification requirements against your specific installation before ordering.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified instrumentation technician familiar with NEC Article 500 requirements for classified hazardous locations. De-energize all circuits and isolate and depressurize the process line completely before connecting or disconnecting the switch. Electrical conduit entries must be sealed in accordance with applicable hazardous-location codes to maintain the explosion-proof integrity of the enclosure. Do not exceed the maximum system pressure rating or apply voltages outside the listed ratings.
