The UEI TEST INSTRUMENTS SSM1 is a digital superheat and subcool meter designed for HVAC refrigerant system diagnostics. It measures pressure from 0 to 500 PSI and temperature from 32 to 122 degrees F, with a full-scale sensing accuracy of 0.5 percent. The SSM1 calculates superheat on the low side and subcool on the high side, making it a practical tool for diagnosing TXV systems and verifying proper refrigerant charge. Licensed HVAC technicians use this meter during service calls to confirm system performance and identify charge-related faults without manual chart lookups.
The SSM1 is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC service work. It supports built-in refrigerant calculations for R22, R134A, R404A, and R410A, covering the most common refrigerants encountered in the field. Technicians working on split systems, heat pumps, and package units will find the built-in refrigerant tables useful for fast, accurate superheat and subcool readings at the service valve. This meter is intended for use by qualified HVAC service professionals during routine system charging and diagnostic procedures.
Designed for use with HVAC refrigerant systems charged with R22, R134A, R404A, or R410A. Suitable for low-side superheat measurement and high-side subcool measurement on TXV-equipped systems.
This meter is a service instrument and should be connected only by a licensed HVAC technician following established refrigerant handling procedures. Always recover or isolate refrigerant charge before connecting or disconnecting gauge lines to avoid exposure and environmental release. Follow EPA Section 608 requirements for refrigerant handling. Inspect hose connections and fittings for wear or leaks before use.
