The UBIQUITI uxg-max is a compact, multi-WAN UniFi gateway designed for high-performance routing at small-to-medium sites. It delivers up to 1.5 Gbps routing throughput with integrated IDS/IPS threat management. All five ports run at 2.5 GbE, giving the unit headroom well beyond standard gigabit infrastructure. The uxg-max is powered via USB-C, with an adapter included, and is managed exclusively through UniFi Network software version 8.1.113 or later. Network administrators and IT professionals deploy this gateway where multi-WAN redundancy and compact form factor are both priorities.
The uxg-max fits small-to-medium business and advanced residential network deployments where high-throughput WAN connectivity and inline security inspection are required. It integrates into existing UniFi ecosystems and is managed through a CloudKey, Official UniFi Hosting, or a self-hosted UniFi Network Server. The remappable LAN port adds flexibility for sites that need dual-WAN failover or load balancing without additional hardware. It is well-suited to environments already running UniFi switching and wireless infrastructure.
Compatible with UniFi Network application version 8.1.113 and later, managed through a CloudKey, Official UniFi Hosting, or a self-hosted UniFi Network Server.
Installation and configuration should be performed by a qualified network technician familiar with UniFi Network software. Power down any existing gateway and back up the current UniFi Network controller configuration before swapping hardware. Connect the USB-C power adapter to a stable power source before connecting WAN and LAN cables. Dual-WAN operation requires remapping one LAN port to WAN within the UniFi Network interface prior to connecting the second WAN uplink.
