The UBIQUITI u6-iw is a wall-mounted WiFi 6 access point designed for single-room wireless coverage in density-sensitive environments. It installs directly into a standard single-gang wall box and combines a dual-band 802.11ax radio with six spatial streams and a built-in 4-port Ethernet switch, eliminating the need for a separate edge switch at the room level. Network technicians and low-voltage contractors deploy this unit where per-room wireless segmentation is required and cable runs to a central switch are not practical. The integrated switch ports allow in-room devices to connect via wired or wireless links from a single installation point.
The u6-iw is suited for hospitality, multi-dwelling unit, and similar single-room-per-AP deployments where clean wall mounting and minimal hardware footprint are priorities. The in-wall form factor keeps the access point flush with the wall surface, reducing exposure to physical damage in high-traffic corridors and guest rooms. Its 4-port switch supports wired connections to in-room equipment such as televisions, phones, or workstations without additional hardware.
Designed as an in-wall WiFi 6 access point for use in hospitality, multi-dwelling unit, and similar single-room coverage deployments requiring a wall-box-mounted wireless solution.
Installation is performed by a licensed low-voltage or network contractor. The unit requires a standard single-gang electrical box rough-in and a PoE-capable upstream switch or injector to supply power over the Ethernet uplink. Power down or disconnect the upstream PoE source before wiring the uplink cable. Follow local low-voltage wiring codes and TIA-568 structured cabling standards when terminating patch cables to the integrated switch ports.
