The U.S. TSUBAKI 40JA16 is a Quick Detach (QD) sprocket designed for use with ANSI 40 roller chain running on a 1/2-inch pitch. It carries 16 teeth and accepts a minimum bore diameter of 1-1/4 inches, making it suitable for mounting on a range of shaft sizes via a JA-series QD bushing. The outside diameter measures 2.81 inches. QD sprockets allow fast removal and repositioning without disturbing the shaft, which reduces downtime during maintenance. Licensed power transmission technicians and industrial mechanics are the typical installers.
This sprocket is suited for light-to-medium duty power transmission applications in conveyor systems, packaging equipment, agricultural machinery, and general industrial drives. It is compatible with ANSI 40 roller chain and requires a JA-series QD bushing, which is sold separately. The compact 16-tooth count makes it a practical choice for drive configurations requiring a moderate speed ratio on smaller-diameter shafts.
Designed for use with ANSI 40 roller chain and JA-series QD bushings. Bushing is not included and must be ordered separately to complete the assembly.
Installation and removal should be performed by a qualified mechanical or power transmission technician. De-energize and lock out the drive system before beginning any sprocket work, following OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. The QD bushing must be matched to the shaft diameter and properly torqued per the bushing manufacturer specifications before returning the drive to service. Do not run the chain without verifying alignment across all sprockets in the drive.
