The TWECO 1160-1763 is a Velocity2a series MIG contact tip designed for wire welding applications requiring a 0.045 inch wire diameter. Contact tips are consumable components that guide the welding wire and transfer current at the point of contact. This tip is part of the Velocity system, which reduces the total number of thread sets from the two or three found on conventional MIG consumables down to one. The thread pairing uses brass on the replaceable nozzle side and heat-treated stainless steel on the gooseneck, which reduces seizing and cross-threading during service. Professional welders and MIG technicians install and replace these tips as routine maintenance.
The 1160-1763 fits into the Velocity2a torch configuration and is suited for production welding environments where downtime from seized threads or inconsistent tip flushness is a recurring issue. The Fixed Threaded design maintains a consistent flushness relationship between the nozzle opening and the contact tip, which matters for arc stability and bead quality. The Adjustable Slip variant within the Velocity line allows flushness adjustment and easier nozzle cleaning access, though this specific tip is the Fixed Threaded type. Sold individually as a unit-of-measure Each, with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed for use with TWECO Velocity2a series MIG torches requiring a 0.045 inch contact tip.
Contact tip replacement is performed by MIG welding technicians as part of routine torch maintenance. Disconnect welding power and allow the torch to cool before handling consumables. The Velocity system is designed for tool-free tip changes, but avoid over-tightening brass-threaded components against the nozzle seat. Follow the torch manufacturer's service interval recommendations for tip inspection and replacement.
