The TWECO 1140-1306 is a 14 Series Standard Duty Tapered Contact Tip designed for MIG welding applications up to 400 amps. It accommodates 1/16 inch (0.062 inch) wire and features a 0.073 inch nominal bore ID with a 1/4 inch-28 UNF-2A thread. The tip measures 1.5 inches in length with a 1/4 inch OD. Machined from 122 DHP copper alloy tubing, the inside diameter surface is held to a tolerance of plus or minus 0.003 inches for consistent wire feed and reliable arc performance. Each tip is marked with the part number and wire diameter for quick field identification. Sold in packs of 25.
This contact tip is rated for standard MIG welding applications up to 400 amps. It installs into compatible gas diffusers using a threaded connection, ensuring solid electrical contact at the diffuser interface. The twist-lock design allows the tip to lock in place without relying on threads alone, increasing the surface contact area between the tip and diffuser for improved electrical conductivity. When the initial wear point is reached, rotating the tip a quarter turn clockwise exposes a fresh wear point, effectively doubling the usable service life of each tip. The thick-walled copper construction acts as a heat sink, drawing heat away from the arc source during extended welding cycles.
Designed for use with Tweco No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 MIG guns rated 200 to 400 amps, as well as specific Tweco MIG gun series that accept the 14 Series contact tip with 1/4 inch-28 UNF-2A threading.
Contact tip installation and replacement is performed by a qualified welder or MIG gun technician. Always power down the welding machine and allow the gun to cool before replacing consumables. Ensure the gas diffuser threads are clean and undamaged before seating the tip. Do not overtighten — hand-tight plus a partial turn is typically sufficient to seat the tip and establish proper electrical contact.
