The TWECO 1040-1613 is a Professional No. 4 Classic Series air-cooled MIG gun rated at 400 amps with a 15-foot lead cable. Designed for semi-automatic welding, it accommodates wire sizes from 0.045 inches to 1/16 inches and delivers a 60% duty cycle when used with CO2 gas. The gun features a fully insulated Euro-Kwik connection for fast hookup and disconnection at the wire feeder, a 60-degree metal jacket conductor tube that swivels a full 360 degrees around the handle, and a silver-plated trigger with self-cleaning contacts. Licensed HVAC, pipe, and structural welding professionals working in medium to heavy-duty fabrication environments are the primary installers.
The 1040-1613 is built for medium and heavy-duty fabrication in industrial, production, maintenance and repair, and shop environments. Its 15-foot lead cable provides good wire feedability and uses a Lincoln-style rear connection. The gun is balanced to pivot at the center of the oval-shaped handle, reducing operator fatigue during extended use. Applications include farm and garage work, shop production runs, and maintenance and repair settings where consistent arc performance and ease of repositioning are required.
Front-end consumables are interchangeable with the Tweco Spray Master series and the Tweco Professional No. Series, reducing inventory requirements. The gun uses a Lincoln-style rear connection and a fully insulated Euro-Kwik connection at the wire feeder.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified welding technician or industrial maintenance professional. De-energize the wire feeder and ensure the power source is switched off before connecting or disconnecting the gun cable. Verify that the rear connection style matches the wire feeder before installation. Follow applicable AWS safety standards and the equipment manufacturer's guidelines for cable routing and strain relief placement.
