The TWECO 1040-1147 is a Professional No. 4 Classic Series air-cooled MIG gun rated at 400 amps with a 60% duty cycle using CO2 gas. It accepts wire sizes from 0.045 to 1/16 inches and features a 15-foot lead cable with a Lincoln-style rear connection. The oval-shaped handle is constructed from high-impact, crush-resistant plastic and is balanced to pivot at the center for reduced operator fatigue. The conductor tube is a three-layer assembly — copper tube, silicon-resin glass insulator, and metal jacket — providing a reliable current path from handle to contact tip. A silver-plated trigger with self-cleaning action activates each weld cycle.
This MIG gun is built for semi-automatic welding in medium to heavy-duty fabrication environments. Typical applications include structural and production welding in industrial shops, maintenance and repair operations, and farm or garage fabrication. The 15-foot cable provides good wire feedability and reach for in-position and out-of-position welds. The 60-degree metal jacket conductor tube swivels a full 360 degrees around the handle, allowing the operator to reposition for flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead passes without disturbing the cable layout.
Features a Lincoln-style rear connection for use with compatible Lincoln-style wire feeders. Front-end consumables are interchangeable with the Tweco Spray Master series and Tweco Professional No. series guns, reducing the need to stock separate consumable inventories.
Installation and service should be performed by a qualified welding technician or maintenance professional. Before connecting or disconnecting the gun at the wire feeder, power down the welding system and relieve any wire tension at the drive rolls. The fully insulated Mig-Kwik connection at the feeder end allows quick connection and disconnection without tools. Follow the equipment manufacturer's documentation and applicable workplace safety standards when routing the cable and securing the rear connection.
