The TWECO 1040-1103 is a Professional No. 4 Classic Series air-cooled MIG gun rated at 400 amps with a 60% duty cycle using CO2 gas. The 15-foot lead cable supports wire sizes from 0.035 to 0.045 inches and features a Tweco-style rear connection for straightforward integration with compatible wire feeders. The oval-shaped handle is balanced to pivot at its center, reducing operator grip fatigue during extended use. A 60-degree metal jacket conductor tube swivels a full 360 degrees around the handle and uses a three-layer construction — copper tube, silicon-resin glass insulator, and metal jacket — for reliable current transfer and long service life. Licensed welding professionals and industrial fabricators use this gun for semi-automatic MIG welding in medium- to heavy-duty environments.
The 1040-1103 is suited for medium and heavy-duty fabrication in industrial, production, and maintenance and repair settings. Typical applications include shop fabrication, farm equipment repair, garage work, and production welding. The fully insulated Mig-Kwik connection allows quick connect and disconnect at the wire feeder, keeping downtime low during gun changes. The steel spring strain relief at the rear of the handle reduces wire feed issues by supporting the Cablehoz exit point. A bottom-mounted gun hanger provides a safe resting position when the gun is not in active use.
Front-end consumables are interchangeable with the Tweco Spray Master series and the Tweco Professional No. series, reducing inventory requirements across compatible gun platforms.
Installation and service of MIG welding equipment should be performed by qualified welding technicians familiar with NFPA 70 (NEC) requirements for welding power supply circuits. Disconnect and lock out the welding power source before connecting or servicing the gun, lead cable, or wire feeder. Verify that the Mig-Kwik connection is fully seated and that both ball-point screws are snug before resuming operation. Do not exceed the rated duty cycle, as overheating can damage the cable and conductor tube assembly.
