Product Description

The TUNGALOY 6857018 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCGT-JS series, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. It carries the ISO designation DCGT32.51NJS and features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert has a 55-degree diamond shape (Code D), a positive rake angle of 10 degrees, a relief angle of 7 degrees, and a honed cutting edge style. Two cutting edges are available per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in production and job-shop environments rely on this geometry for finishing and semi-finishing passes.

This insert is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. Typical applications include turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. The JS chip breaker geometry is optimized for light-to-medium depth-of-cut work, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.1181 inches. Material grades P15, P30, M15, M30, K25, K30, S15, and S25 are supported. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand toolholders designed for DCGT-style inserts.

Installation Notes

Verify insert seating and shim contact before resuming cutting operations.
