The TUNGALOY 6806258 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the SDMT1204PDPR-ML designation and AH120 manufacturer grade. This square-shaped, single-sided insert is coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability across demanding milling operations. It features a positive rake geometry with a 15-degree relief angle and a honed cutting edge style, producing clean chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. With four usable cutting edges and a right-hand orientation, it is designed for indexable face and shoulder milling cutters used in production machining environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or manufacturing facilities are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material grades P15, M15, K15, and S10. The ML chip breaker geometry is optimized for light-to-medium depth-of-cut applications where controlled chip formation is critical. It is sized at 0.5000 inches in both length and width with a 0.1870-inch thickness, fitting standard SDMT 1204 insert pockets. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and pocket milling on machining centers or CNC mills where consistent tool life and repeatable surface finish are required.
Compatible with the EPO07, TPO07, and HPO07-M cutter series as stated by the manufacturer. Follows ISO standard designation SDMT1204PDPR-ML AH120 and fits standard SDMT 1204 insert pockets.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified screw to seat the insert firmly without cracking the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for debris or wear before seating a new insert.
