The TUNGALOY 6806251 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the manufacturer designation SDMT1204AFPN-MJ in grade AH330. It is a square-shaped, single-sided insert with a 90-degree included angle, designed for face and shoulder milling operations on steel workpieces. The insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability during high-speed cutting. With four cutting edges, a positive rake geometry, and a honed cutting edge style, this insert delivers consistent performance in P15 to P30 material grade applications. Licensed HVAC techs will not be fitting this part - it is installed by machinists and CNC operators in metalworking environments.
This insert is suited for milling steel in both light and moderate stock-removal applications corresponding to ISO material group P, specifically P15 and P30 classifications. It fits into screw-type insert pockets and is compatible with Tungaloy cutter series EPO07, TPO07, and HPO07-M. The neutral hand orientation and positive rake make it adaptable to a range of face milling and square-shoulder milling setups in production and job-shop environments. The MJ chip breaker geometry is optimized for steel cutting with reliable chip control across a range of depths and feed rates.
Compatible with Tungaloy cutter series EPO07, TPO07, and HPO07-M. Insert size code 1204 with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle fits screw-type pockets designed for SDMT-style inserts. Conforms to ANSI and ISO designation SDMT1204AFPN-MJ AH330.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification - do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to maintain proper edge geometry.
