The TUNGALOY 6804829 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the JCGN200F geometry with a TH10 grade designation, this uncoated insert delivers a 2 mm cutting width and a neutral lead angle for straight, radial cut-off passes. The F chipbreaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation, reducing the risk of chip packing in the groove. At 0.005 pounds, the insert seats into a clamp-style toolholder and is suited for high-precision applications where consistent groove width and low deflection are critical. Machinists and CNC operators working with non-ferrous metals and superalloys will find this insert well-matched to their requirements.
This insert is intended for cut-off and parting applications on turning equipment. Primary workpiece materials are non-ferrous metals and superalloys, with secondary suitability for cast iron and steel. The JCGN style and J-Series designation indicate compatibility with corresponding TUNGALOY clamp-style toolholders designed for the JCGN insert form. Typical applications include bar stock parting, groove profiling, and face grooving on production lathes in both shop and production environments.
Designed for use with TUNGALOY J-Series clamp-style toolholders accepting the JCGN insert style. Primary workpiece materials are non-ferrous metals (material code N) and superalloys (material code S). Secondary workpiece materials include cast iron (code K) and steel (code P). Material grades C2 and C3 apply.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a locked-out state before any insert change. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and verify clamp engagement before resuming operation. Inspect the insert seating surface and clamp for wear or debris that could affect insert position. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping procedure - do not overtighten the clamp screw beyond the toolholder specification.
