The TUNGALOY 6802122 is a CNMG432TM AH120 grade solid carbide turning insert with a TiAlN PVD coating designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a negative rake angle of -6 degrees. With a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 0.508 inch length, and a 0.0315 inch corner radius, it is sized for medium to heavy material removal. The AH120 grade targets steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloy workpieces where a balance of wear resistance and toughness is required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in clamp- or pin-style toolholders.
This insert is engineered for roughing and medium machining applications. It is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel (P15, P25), stainless steel (M15, M25), cast iron (K15, K30), and superalloys and titanium (S10, S25) workpieces. The TM chip breaker geometry controls chip flow during interrupted and continuous cuts at moderate to high feed rates. The sharp cutting edge style and negative side clearance are appropriate for rigid setups where tool stability and consistent surface finish across production runs are priorities. This insert conforms to ANSI insert code CNMG432 and ISO insert code CNMG120408.
Designed for use in CNMG-style clamp and pin toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code CNMG432 and ISO insert code CNMG120408. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloy and titanium workpieces as identified by material codes P, M, K, and S.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket seating surfaces before tightening the clamp or pin to avoid insert rocking or chipping on first contact. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris that could affect insert seating and cutting edge integrity.
