The TUNGALOY 6785666 is a CNMG432TM T9205 grade indexable turning insert designed for high-productivity metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, it delivers strong wear resistance and heat management across a wide range of cutting conditions. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.031-inch corner radius, and a negative rake geometry. With four cutting edges and compatibility with both clamp and pin holding methods, it is suited for productive shop use. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. The TM chip breaker geometry and sharp cutting edge style are optimized for finishing to light roughing passes on P-group and K-group materials. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with the ISO designation CNMG120408-TM T9205, making it straightforward to cross-reference in standard tooling systems. Material grades P01, P10, K10, and K20 are covered, giving the insert broad utility across common ferrous workpiece materials.
Designed for use in CNMG-style toolholders that accept a 432-size insert with clamp or pin retention. Suitable for machining steel and cast iron workpieces corresponding to ISO material groups P and K. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert pocket dimensions before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures applied. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp screws for the toolholder; do not over-tighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert. Confirm edge selection and orientation against the toolholder specification before resuming cutting operations.
