The TUNGALOY 6781033 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCMT-PS series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. The insert carries ISO code DCMT11T304-PS and is manufactured in the T9225 grade, featuring a multilayer CVD coating of TiN, TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN. This coating sequence provides a combination of wear resistance and heat dissipation suited to continuous and interrupted cuts. The 55-degree diamond shape (insert shape code D) delivers a sharp, positive rake geometry with a 7-degree relief angle and a 10-degree rake angle. The honed cutting edge improves edge stability and reduces chipping on the initial pass. Licensed HVAC installers do not install this part - it is handled by machinist and tooling professionals in metalworking environments.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. It is classified for material grades P15 and P25, making it well-suited to medium-duty roughing and semi-finishing passes on carbon and alloy steels as well as austenitic stainless grades. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.0984 inches (2.50 mm), which positions this insert for productive stock removal without sacrificing surface finish. The neutral hand orientation allows use on both conventional and live-tooling setups. The screw-clamping hold method ensures repeatable seating in compatible DCMT toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO insert seating standards. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K), with material grades P15 and P25. Multi-use application covers turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid seat deformation or insert cracking - consult the toolholder documentation for the correct screw torque value, as it is not provided here. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Verify that the replacement insert grade and geometry match the toolholder and programmed cutting parameters before resuming operation.
