The TUNGALOY 6772452 is a DCMT-series indexable turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries the ISO designation DCMT11T308-PS and is manufactured in grade T9215, a CVD multilayer-coated solid carbide grade featuring TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN coating layers applied in sequence. The 55-degree diamond insert shape provides two cutting edges with a honed edge style and a positive rake angle of 10 degrees. A corner radius of 0.0315 inches and a PS chip breaker geometry make this insert well-suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where chip control and surface finish matter.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and K. It is appropriate for material grades P10 and P20. The maximum depth of cut is 0.0984 inches (2.50 mm), which positions it for light to medium-duty cuts. It is held in place by a screw-lock toolholder compatible with DCMT-style pockets. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production machining, job shops, and maintenance environments are the primary users.
Designed for use in screw-lock DCMT-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 55-degree diamond profile and a 7-degree relief angle (clearance code C, tolerance code M). Compatible with steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials per ISO groups P, M, and K.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for the screw-lock clamp to avoid cracking the carbide substrate - do not overtighten by feel alone. Inspect the toolholder pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature edge failure.
