The TUNGALOY 6772441 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT09T312-PM geometry, manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards under the T9215 grade. This insert carries a multilayer CVD coating - TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN applied in sequence - engineered to deliver high wear resistance across a range of cutting conditions. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations. With a 0.375-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0472-inch corner radius, and a positive rake angle of 8 degrees, this insert is built for finishing and medium machining passes where dimensional accuracy and surface finish matter.
This insert is intended for use on CNC lathes and turning centers in applications involving steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. It is identified with ISO material grades P10 and P20, positioning it for steel and stainless steel work requiring high to moderate wear resistance and toughness. The PM chip breaker geometry controls chip flow effectively during finishing and medium machining cuts, making it well suited for both continuous and mildly interrupted cuts on turned components in job shop and production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in metalworking trades are the primary installers and users.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for CCMT09T312-style toolholders conforming to ANSI size code 32.53 and ISO size code 09T312. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Before indexing or replacing inserts, power down the machine spindle and confirm the turret is fully stopped. Use the correct torque driver for the mounting screw to seat the insert flush against the toolholder pocket without rocking. Inspect the insert seating pocket for chips or debris before each insert change to maintain positional accuracy.
