The TUNGALOY 6772259 is a DNMG 431 TM indexable turning insert in the T9215 grade, designed for general-purpose metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN over a solid carbide substrate, delivering heat resistance and wear performance across a range of cutting conditions. The 55-degree diamond (DNMG) shape provides two usable cutting points per side for four total cutting edges. With a 0.0157-inch corner radius and negative rake geometry, this insert is suited for moderate to heavy turning passes on ferrous materials. Qualified ANSI and ISO technicians install this insert in compatible DNMG toolholders using clamp or pin retention.
This insert targets steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P and M and K. Material grades P10 and P20 indicate suitability for light-to-medium roughing and finishing passes on carbon and alloy steels. Multi-use applications include turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. The TM chip breaker geometry is intended for controlled chip formation across these operations. The insert is part of Tungaloy's T9200 series and carries the ISO designation DNMG 431 TM.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders that accept a 431 insert size with clamp or pin retention. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (ISO codes P, M, K). Suitable for CNC turning centers and manual lathes equipped with compatible negative-rake DNMG toolholders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket walls and tighten the clamp or pin to the toolholder manufacturer's specification using the appropriate torx or hex key. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for damage before resuming cuts; a cracked or chipped insert must be discarded, not reused.
