The TUNGALOY 6772214 is a DNMG 431 TSF series turning insert in the T9215 manufacturer grade, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. Manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers thermal resistance and wear performance across a range of ferrous workpiece materials. The 55-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code D) provides a sharp cutting edge geometry with a negative rake angle of 13 degrees and a 0.0157-inch corner radius. With four usable cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it is suited for high-volume production environments where insert efficiency and tool life matter.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials (ISO material codes P, M, and K). It fits toolholders designed for DNMG-style inserts and is held in place by clamp or pin methods. The T9215 grade with TSF chip breaker geometry makes it particularly well-matched for finishing and semi-finishing passes on steel and stainless steel at material grades P10 and P20. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in job shop or production machining environments will find this a direct-application insert for common turning operations.
Designed for use in DNMG-style turning toolholders that accept a 55-degree diamond insert with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle and clamp or pin holding. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials per ISO codes P, M, and K.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians following standard insert indexing procedures for DNMG toolholders. Power down and de-energize the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for wear or debris before seating a new insert, as pocket damage directly affects insert stability and surface finish. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for clamping screws - do not over-torque.
