The TUNGALOY 6723436 is a replaceable-tip drill body from the DrillMeister series, designed for precision holemaking in metal cutting applications. It accepts interchangeable DMP-series drill tips, allowing the shank body to be reused while worn cutting edges are swapped out quickly at the machine. The drill covers a diameter range of 0.787 to 0.823 inches with a maximum drilling depth of 3.937 inches, corresponding to a 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio. A 1-inch Weldon Flat shank provides positive rotational drive in compatible toolholders. Through-coolant delivery channels direct fluid to the cutting zone, supporting chip evacuation and tool life in deep-hole drilling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments are the primary installers.
This drill body is suited for drilling and holemaking operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where consistent hole quality and rapid tip changeover are priorities. The 5xD reach makes it appropriate for moderate-depth bores in workpieces such as blocks, flanges, and structural components. It is used on CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with toolholders sized for a 1-inch Weldon Flat shank. The replaceable-tip design reduces per-hole tooling cost in production runs and minimizes downtime compared to solid carbide drill replacement.
Compatible insert styles for this drill body are DMP190, DMP191, DMP192, DMP193, DMP194, DMP195, DMP196, DMP197, DMP198, and DMP199. The toolholder style designation is TID L/D=5. Requires a machine spindle or toolholder configured for a 1-inch Weldon Flat shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's setup procedures. Disengage spindle power and verify the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or removing the drill body from the toolholder. Ensure the Weldon Flat shank is fully seated and the set screw is torqued per the toolholder manufacturer's specification before operation. Confirm through-coolant supply lines are connected and functioning before beginning drilling cycles to protect the cutting tip and workpiece.
