The TRU-MAXX 66253292495 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal and finishing on ferrous and hard materials. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent cut rates and predictable breakdown in demanding shop environments. It measures 12 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches thick, with a 3-inch arbor hole, and carries a 60-grit, H-hardness (soft) rating rated to a maximum of 2,705 RPM. The white aluminum oxide grain is semi-friable, meaning it fractures under load to expose fresh cutting edges, which helps reduce heat buildup and glazing during extended grinding passes. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and surface grinder operators will find this wheel suited to controlled, repeatable work.
This wheel is intended for use on horizontal spindle reciprocating surface grinders in production and maintenance machine shops. The Type 1 flat profile fits standard surface grinder arbors with a 3-inch bore. The 60-grit medium cut is appropriate for general-purpose surface grinding where a balance of stock removal and surface finish is required. The vitrified bond provides rigidity and porosity control, making it well suited to dry grinding applications and light coolant use on heat-sensitive workpieces. The non-porous, no-recess construction simplifies mounting and dressing routines.
Designed as a direct-mount replacement for Type 1 surface grinding wheels with a 12-inch diameter, 3/4-inch face width, and 3-inch arbor hole on horizontal spindle surface grinders.
A qualified machinist or grinding operator should inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting — never mount a damaged wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before removing the old wheel and seating the new one; use proper flange hardware and blotting paper between flanges and the wheel face. After mounting, run the wheel at operating speed with the guard in place for at least one minute before bringing it into contact with the workpiece. Always confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the wheel maximum RPM rating of 2,705 RPM.
