The TRU-MAXX 66253255859 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal and surface finishing on ferrous metals. It is constructed from white aluminum oxide abrasive bonded with a vitrified bond, producing a hard, rigid wheel structure that holds its form under consistent grinding pressure. At 8 inches in diameter, 1 inch thick, and with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole, this wheel fits standard surface grinder spindles. The 60-grit, I-hardness rating places it in the medium-soft range, making it well-suited for controlled material removal without excessive heat buildup. Maximum rated speed is 3600 RPM. Machinists, tool and die makers, and surface grinder operators are the primary installers and users of this wheel.
This wheel is intended for horizontal and vertical spindle surface grinding applications in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. The white aluminum oxide grain is semi-friable, meaning it fractures during use to continuously expose fresh cutting edges, extending wheel life and maintaining cut rate on hardened steels, tool steels, and similar ferrous workpieces. The vitrified bond provides open pore structure that supports coolant flow and chip clearance during wet or dry grinding operations. It is packaged individually and sold as a single unit.
Designed as a standard replacement or stock Type 1 surface grinding wheel for horizontal and vertical spindle surface grinders accepting an 8 inch diameter, 1 inch wide wheel with a 1-1/4 inch arbor bore.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing should be performed by a qualified machine operator or machinist following ANSI B11.9 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.215 standards for abrasive wheel machinery. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing any wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation using the ring test, and never exceed the maximum RPM stamped on the wheel or listed on the blotter. Dress the wheel with an appropriate diamond dresser before first use to true the face and expose fresh abrasive grain.
