The TRU-MAXX 66253255657 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision stock removal and surface finishing on ferrous metals. It uses an aluminum oxide abrasive grain bonded with a vitrified bond, producing consistent, repeatable cuts in high-production and toolroom environments. At 46 grit with a K hardness rating (medium), this wheel delivers a coarse cutting action suited for rapid material removal while maintaining workpiece integrity. The semi-friable grain structure continually exposes fresh cutting edges as the wheel wears, extending usable life under normal grinding conditions. Licensed machinists and grinding machine operators are the primary installers and users of this consumable.
This wheel fits surface grinders configured for a 7-inch diameter wheel with a 1-1/4-inch arbor hole. The 1/2-inch thickness is appropriate for straight surface grinding passes on flat workpieces. It is used in job shops, tool-and-die operations, and maintenance machining departments where consistent material removal from steel, cast iron, and similar hard metals is required. The non-porous, vitrified bond resists loading on dense ferrous materials and holds its form well under moderate to heavy grinding pressure.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard consumable for horizontal-spindle surface grinders accepting a 7-inch diameter, 1/2-inch wide, Type 1 wheel with a 1-1/4-inch center hole and a maximum operating speed of 3600 RPM.
Always power down and lockout/tagout the grinder before mounting or removing a grinding wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation and perform a ring test by tapping lightly with a non-metallic object to confirm it produces a clear tone. Mount with the correct flange size and never exceed the rated maximum speed of 3600 RPM. Grinding wheel installation and dressing should be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and applicable shop safety standards.
