The TRU-MAXX 66253255604 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision flat grinding operations on surface grinders. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent stock removal on ferrous metals and tool steels. It measures 8 inches in diameter, 1/4 inch thick, with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. At 80 grit and K hardness (medium grade), it is suited for moderate material removal with a reasonably fine finish. The semi-friable grain structure helps the wheel self-dress during use, maintaining cut efficiency over its service life. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and skilled grinding technicians are the primary installers and operators of this wheel.
This wheel is intended for use on horizontal spindle surface grinders in machine shops, toolrooms, and manufacturing environments. The Type 1 flat wheel profile is the standard configuration for reciprocating table surface grinding. It is appropriate for grinding carbon steel, alloy steel, and similar ferrous workpieces where a medium grit finish is acceptable. The vitrified bond provides rigidity and porosity suited to wet or dry surface grinding operations at controlled feed rates.
Designed as a standard Type 1 replacement grinding wheel for horizontal spindle surface grinders accepting an 8 inch diameter wheel with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole and 1/4 inch face width.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing must be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B11.9 and applicable shop safety standards. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting — never mount a damaged wheel. Power down and lock out the grinder before installing or changing wheels, and confirm the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum rating stamped on the wheel. Perform a ring test and run the mounted wheel at operating speed for at least one minute in a guarded position before bringing it into contact with a workpiece.
