The TRU-MAXX 66253255598 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel engineered for precision material removal on surface grinders. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent stock removal and a controlled finish on ferrous metals and general-purpose workpieces. It measures 7 inches in diameter, 1/4 inch thick, and has a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole. The 80 grit, J hardness (medium grade) specification positions it for moderate material removal with reasonable surface finish — a common balance for production and tool room surface grinding applications. Rated at a maximum of 3600 RPM, it suits standard surface grinder spindle speeds.
This wheel is intended for use on horizontal-spindle surface grinders in machine shop, tool room, and light manufacturing environments. The aluminum oxide grain with vitrified bond is well suited to grinding carbon steel, alloy steel, and similar ferrous materials where consistent cut rate and wheel breakdown behavior matter. The semi-friable grain structure supports self-sharpening action during the cut, reducing glazing during extended use. Machinists, tool grinders, and machine operators are the primary installers and users of this wheel type.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit grinding wheel for horizontal-spindle surface grinders accepting a 7 inch diameter, 1/4 inch thick, Type 1 straight wheel with a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole.
Grinding wheel mounting and dressing must be performed by a qualified machinist or grinding equipment operator in accordance with ANSI B11.9 and the machine manufacturer's guidelines. Always power down and lock out the surface grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation — never mount a damaged wheel. Ring-test the wheel prior to mounting, use appropriate flanges and blotters, and dress the wheel before the first grind pass to ensure proper face geometry and balance.
